Houston weather update: Storms sweep through area
Around 5:30 p.m. the weather service issued a severe thunderstorm warning in College Station and surrounding areas. The storms were capable of creating 60 mph winds and producing nickel-size hail.As of 6 p.m. there were no active severe weather warnings in Harris County. However,, reaching the Houston area around 8 p.m. and the coast near 9 p.m.
The storms are expected to bring gusty winds and damaging hail but are not expected to produce flooding.
