"The majority of the hats we designed together tell a story that is linked to Houston," said Eight One owner Carlos De Los Santos Jr.
The $55 hat that went on sale on Dec. 30 features an Astros logo styled after the popular donut chain and a badge featuring the 1986 All-Star Game at the Astrodome. And it was one of the first hats Eight One and OC Ospreys designed. "It's not an official collaboration with Shipley. They just allowed us to use their logo in our marketing," De Los Santos Jr. said."It's as close as possible to being an Astros hat without being a Shipleys hat."
All the hats sold out at the popup, and there are no plans to restock them. De Los Santos Jr. said some of the hats popped up on eBay for $400.
