Winston’s four children were with her at the event with smiles on their faces: 9-year-old twins, a 4-year-old, and a 13-year-old. “It’s amazing what you can do with a few phone calls,” said Paul Box, supervisor of public affairs for the fire department. “Our goal this year is to serve at least 6,000 families and 30,000 kids.”
Cars began lining up the night before to be at the front of the six-lane, drive-thru style distribution. Drivers opened their trunks to receive bags of gifts.
