Inside Houston Area Urban League's second-most successful gala, which raised $810K and counting
The head table at the Houston Area Urban League’s 2022 EOD Gala “Celebrating Black Excellence” at the Hilton Americas Hotel Saturday Dec. 17,2022.Houston Area Urban League is still tallying donations from its Equal Opportunity Day Gala on Saturday, said the non-profit's president and CEO Judson Robinson III. Early numbers are in — and they're high.
"Mayor Turner asked everyone to donate via our QR code after explaining that there's an age group we're having trouble with, ages 16-25, who are creating a lot of crime in our city," Robinson said."And that if the Urban League can get to those kids sooner, it can change their direction in life." "If we can keep the weakest people strong, we can contribute to balance in our society," Robinson said.
