BREAKING: House passes sweeping budget deal after late Trump push
The House passed a massive $2.7 trillion, two-year budget deal that boosts Pentagon and domestic spending, in a win for Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Donald Trump. The deal, which also suspends the debt ceiling into 2021, now goes to the Senate, which is expected to easily pass it next week.GOP leaders — with some help from President Donald Trump — are scrambling to round up Republican support for a two-year, $2.
But House Minority Whip Steve Scalise didn't sound optimistic that Trump's tweet would move many votes. One member who did announce her support for the agreement is GOP Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney . Cheney had declined to say whether she backed the deal since it was announced earlier this week. "We're going to have a majority for the bill," Pelosi told reporters Thursday morning. "We want it to be bipartisan."
The Congressional Progressive Caucus released a statement on Wednesday in support of the deal without guaranteeing votes for it.
