Vincent Reynouard was detained in Anstruther area of Fife on arrest warrant and will now be returned to France to face trial.
A French Holocaust denier who was hiding out in Scotland is being sent back to his homeland to face trial after a sheriff ordered his extradition.
Sheriff Chris Dickson said: “I do not consider that extradition to France would be disproportionate.” Fred Mackintosh KC, representing him, said “Holocaust denial per se” was not a crime in the UK, and the videos contained “no encouragement of other people to act”.Reynouard needed to have committed a crime which is also an offence under Scots law to meet the test for extradition.
Mr Mackintosh previously argued that Reynouard’s actions would be “unlikely” to attract a prison sentence in Scotland so it would be “disproportionate to extradite him”.
