WGA members picket outside of Paramount Pictures on the first day of the Hollywood writers strike in Los Angeles Hollywood’s writers union has reached a preliminary deal with major studios that is expected to end a strike that has lasted nearly five months and has halted most film and television production.
The three-year contract still must be approved by leadership of the WGA as well as union members, before it can take effect.“This was made possible by the enduring solidarity of WGA members and extraordinary support of our union siblings who joined us on the picket lines for over 146 days,” the negotiating committee said in a statement Sunday.
Writers walked off the job on 2 May over issues of pay, the size of writing staff on shows and the use of artificial intelligence in the creation of scripts.
