Who needs two shoes that match?
For boring runners like me who tend to go for an all-black shoe—probably a characteristic that goes hand-in-hand with needing to end every run at an even mileage number—the mismatched colorway is just anxiety and chaos in sneaker form. But for folks who like their footwear to stand out at the marathon starting line, there are few better ways to do it than by intentionally clashing your already-loud Bondi Bs.
But this new Hoka x Engineered Garments shoe is a sign that the ultra-maximalist model might be back to stay—at least in round after round of limited-edition releases. And as a bonus, this one was actually designed by a distance runner. According to gq.com, Engineered Garments’ founder Daiki Suzuki is a former marathoner, first turned onto Hoka’s by a running friend.
