“We’re very appreciative of this to basically still keep going across the country,” said Berly, a former Moose Jaw resident. “We feel pretty fortunate to have this life at this time.”

“The introduction is: ‘You saw them in the ‘70s, now here they are in their 70s,’” offered Berly, who enjoys poking fun at himself and his bandmates. “Now that we’re at this age, we’ve got stories . We do find time to play some music but we laugh at each other and with each other.”Although the Stampeders haven’t released new music since 1998, Berly continues to write songs as a solo artist in addition to documenting the band’s adventures for an upcoming memoir.

“I call them brothers,” Berly said. “We see each other more than we do our own siblings. Basically, we enjoy each other’s company. The end of the road may be approaching, but Berly hopes to keep his foot on the gas “for quite a while” longer.“I’m healthy. Richard is quite healthy. Ronnie is our rock and roll story,” he said. “Ronnie is the guy who did every indulgent thing under the sun. You pay for it in your old age. He’s got a few more aches and pains.
