Developer Billingsley Co. plans office and apartment building for tract at U.S. 75 and Rayburn Turnpike.
“We’ve just engaged architect Perkins & Will to work with us on our first building in Allen,” Billingsley Co. partner Lucy Burns said. “We need to start designing this to kick off early next year. “There are tons of people in McKinney that would love to have an office near them and not drive to Legacy in Plano,” she said. “We are pretty optimistic about there being demand.”
In 2019, Allen officials approved zoning for 10 million square feet of office, residential, retail and hospitality construction on the busy corner Billingsley owns, about 15 miles north of Dallas. The property was originally planned for shopping malls by developers General Growth and Belz Corp. A small outlet mall on one section of the property was demolished when the highway interchange was rebuilt.“We are working to kick off infrastructure there and are highly supportive of the project,” said Dan Bowman, CEO of the Allen Economic Development Corp. “We always wanted a partner like the Billingsleys that have the ability to follow though.
