The autonomous flying wind turbines are cheaper and greener. 🪂 EarthDay2022
For Florian Bauer, co-CEO and chief technology officer of Kitekraft, a Munich-based company developing a flying wind turbine power system, tackling climate change is personal.
ind energy is expected to grow 11-fold by 2050, and it'll surely play a key role in future electricity production. Kitekraft's kites are primarily made of aluminum, which is easily recyclable. In contrast, the materials typically used in conventional wind turbines, such as steel and carbon or glass fiber reinforced plastics, are difficult to recycle. Although Kitecraft's rotors are made up of carbon fiber, their tiny size makes recycling the blades much easier."As a result, it's easier to manufacture and transport, and the carbon footprint is substantially less.
