Depeche Mode ticket prices for San Antonio concert are sky high. Here's why
at the AT&T Center have reached staggering prices on Tickemaster, with some floor seats topping $3,000 and nosebleeds breaking $400.
So what’s driving DM ducats into the stratosphere beyond the band’s global popularity? Let’s just say everything counts in large amounts. Consider:This has fans wondering if it will be its last. The sudden death of Depeche Mode co-founder Fletcher in May at age 60 left much of the DM devout, including singer Dave Gahan, and musician and songwriter Martin Gore, wondering if this also marked the end of the Rock & Rock Hall of Fame group, which started in 1980.
Coveted floor seats and other closer-to-action options often fetch a hefty price on the secondary market. With dynamic pricing for what the company calls platinum seats, Ticketmaster in essence cuts out that reseller by adding the markup upfront to the ticket’s face value. However, Ticketmaster also sells resale tickets that were bought by fans and ticket brokers.
The results are anything but music to consumers’ ears or wallets. For example, floor seats for Bruce Springsteen 2023 tour, which hits Austin on Feb. 16, went on sale in July for upward of $4,000 through Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing system. Dynamic pricing can increase ticket prices to triple or more their face value, but Ticketmaster says it’s designed to discourage predatory reselling that could cost desperate fans with no other option even more.
