The dark comedy 'The Banshees of Inisherin' took three awards, notably for Colin Farrell's performance.
Multiverse comedy wins a record 10 awards from the Utah Film Critics Association, including best picture.
The movie — about a laundromat owner who learns she’s at the epicenter of an epic battle across multiple universes — won Best Picture, directing and original screenplay for the team of Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, lead female performance for Michelle Yeoh, both supporting performance categories for Ke Huy Quan and Stephanie Hsu, ensemble cast, film editing and visual effects.
The critics’ group met Saturday at the Megaplex Theaters Jordan Commons in Sandy to vote on the best work in movies in 2022. The runner-up for best picture was “Top Gun: Maverick,” the action sequel that put Tom Cruise back in the cockpit of a fighter jet. The movie won an award for Claudio Miranda’s cinematography.

Best New Pickup Trucks of 2022 and 2023Although the nameplate originally was used on a less-than-stellar compact car line in the 1970s, Ford has revived the Maverick name for its new small pickup truck, and has slotted it into the lineup below the mid-size Ranger. This time, the Maverick is an impressive package worthy of an Editors' Choice award. Instead of sharing parts and mechanicals with the Ranger, the Maverick rides on the same chassis as the Bronco Sport compact crossover. The standard powertrain is a hybrid setup that consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, a continuously variable automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. Ford also offers all-wheel drive, but only with the optional nonhybrid turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. All models sport the same four-door crew cab body style with a 4.5-foot bed.
