Celebrity stylist karla_welch, who has dressed the likes of Tracee Ellis Ross and Megan Rapinoe, is launching an app called Wishi, which connects online users with stylists who are handpicked by Welch for a low entry fee of $40.
When you work in fashion, you tend to become something of a guru to your friends and family. They are constantly picking your brain about everything and anything sartorial.
I took the app for a test-drive ahead of the launch, and as someone who is often skeptical of online styling tools, I certainly benefited from Welch’s services. First, I took the introductory style quiz, which asks your gender, body type, and style: “Do you like boho style? Do you like sexy style? Do you like chic style?” and so on.
Taryn’s profile revealed that she had worked in fashion for more than 10 years and styled celebrity clients for the red carpet, editorial, music tours, and TV/film. Once I decided to work with her, I was directed to a page where there were two pricing tiers: a “Wishi Mini” for $36, which is focused on styling for a specific occasion, and a “Wishi Major” for $81, which focuses on building an entire new wardrobe for you.
“There is nothing our personal stylists can’t do,” Welch said this week just ahead of the Wishi launch. “The app very much mimics the way that I work with my clients.
