From a basketball game Saturday to celebrations Monday, there are plenty of ways to honor Dr. King’s legacy this weekend.
Snow falls past the panels of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial at the Delaney Park Strip on the national holiday honoring King in 2017 in Anchorage.
This free basketball tournament brings minority youths and local law enforcement together to build positive relationships with one another. The cops and youths will play on the same teams “to foster unity in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” Open to kids age 7-18, the game will also feature trophies, tees, awards and pizza.Hosted by the MLK Foundation of Alaska, the celebration features guest artist Maranda Curtis and the Beloved Community Choir.
