Sixteen cities across the United States, Canada and Mexico were named as host cities for the 2026 World Cup on Thursday.
: Boston, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, Toronto: Guadalajara, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver
The 2026 World Cup is expected to return to its traditional summer window after the 2022 World Cup was moved due to extreme summer heat in Qatar. It will also be the first World Cup with an expanded field of 48 teams . After a vote in FIFA's World Congress, the international governing body of soccer decided to accept a joint bid from the U.S., Canada and Mexico to host the 2026 World Cup. The bid beat a competing plan from Morocco 134-65 votes, and will include 60 games in the United States and ten each in Canada and Mexico.
