Martin McLaren repeatedly stabbed Joy Furrie leaving her with life-threatening injuries.
McLaren pled guilty to attempting to murder Miss Furrie at their then home in East Kilbride on September 28 2020.The High Court in Glasgow heard how the couple had been together for six years and were engaged to be married.Prosecutor Nicola Gilchrist said: "This incident occurred without any provocation."They could easily have resulted in her death."
Miss Gilchrist: "He thereafter attacked her with the knife repeatedly stabbing her on the body until she was able to take hold of the weapon in her hands."A blood soaked Miss Furrie pleaded for him to get help.Wearing just a towel on his bottom half, he stated: "Dom, can I use your phone. I need to phone an ambulance. Joy has had an accident."McLaren stated: "Just follow the blood.
