The family of a mum-of-two who died after battling an eating disorder have had their search for answers put on hold.

Amy Elizabeth Rowe from Burnley died on February 10 of this year. The 38-year-old's family yesterday attended Accrington Town Hall with the hope of gaining answers about delays in treating a bleed in her stomach.

Amy's sister Dr Abigail Page, who attended the hearing along with her aunt and uncle, Angela and Steven Spencer, and her dad Alan, had voiced concerns to Assistant Coroner Laura Nash about the 'six hours' it took for doctors to find a bleed in Amy's stomach. The inquest heard that Amy had suffered from disordered eating before her death.

Ms Nash gave Amy's family time to consider if they wanted the inquest adjourning to a later date to allow them to analyse the witness statements. After a period of around 10 minutes the family said they wanted the opportunity to fully read the statements and then decide if they wanted any of the witnesses to give evidence in court.

"It's not good enough," Ms Nash told the family before apologising. "What I will do is liaise with the listings department and get this re-listed as soon as possible, hopefully within the next two months."Tragedy of beautiful mum whose loved ones may never know how she diedWonderful Darwen mum dies in freak accident after son's 21st birthday party
