The chair of the Texas Public Utility Commission, Peter Lake, is resigning, according to a statement from Gov. Greg Abbott. Lake was appointed as chair in April 2021, two months after a winter freeze led to widespread power outages and the deaths of hundreds across the state. His last day on the commission is set for July 1.
