'He's got unreal ability': Senegal star's rise from non-league to the World Cup in two years ⚽ via iPaperSport FIFAWorldCup
Ndiaye’s ascent from non-league to the big time has happened at a remarkable pace. Born in Rouen to a Senegalese father and French mother, Ndiaye spent time in Marseille’s academy before the family moved to Senegal and then on to London. A chance trial with National League side Boreham Wood revitalised Ndiaye’s dream of becoming a professional footballer.
Ndiaye didn’t make a first-team appearance for Boreham Wood, despite being named on the bench on a few occasions, but through appearances for the club’s development side as well as in non-league football with Rising Ballers, a club with a strong social media following that describes itself as “the biggest Gen Z football brand in the UK”, his development accelerated apace. In 2019, Sheffield United, then a Premier League club, signed him following a successful trial.
