'By showing and celebrating our pride it pushes society to accept one another and inspire people to come together.' Read HayleyKiyoko's love letter to the LGBTQ community:
For Gay Pride Month, Billboard asked numerous pop culture luminaries to write 'love letters' to the LGBTQ community. Below, singer-songwriter and actress Hayley Kiyoko -- who has directed several of her own music videos, including the Sapphic "Sleepover" -- shares hers. I'm grateful to the LGBTQ community for giving me the courage to write music about who I am and not just about my sexual orientation.
It's wonderful to see parents come together and openly support their LGBTQ kids at my shows. A dad once told me to "keep singing from my heart" because it meant the world to him and his daughter. By showing and celebrating our pride it pushes society to accept one another and inspire people to come together.
