A storm system off the coast of Hawaii could bring flooding to the islands on Thursday and Friday.
"The system was 200 to 300 miles off the coast of Hawaii on Tuesday morning," said Derek Wroe, a forecaster with theservice's office in Honolulu."It's developing enough instability to trigger some rain showers around us," he added."We're seeing a mix of sun and heavy rain."
Wroe said that Oahu and Kauai are likely to see the most shower activity through Wednesday. While Maui and the Big Island will likely see mostly sunny weather on Tuesday, pop-up showers are likely on these islands on Wednesday. Multiple rounds of heavy rainfall are possible this week. Heaviest rainfall looks to be later in the week into the weekend, so heads up for possible flooding.
