Living on an island, people here understand how important it is to take care of each other to stay safe.You've had amazing success in business. What qualities or experiences do you think you possess that led to that success? I credit my parents — and what I learned from them — for a lot of my success. My father was raised on a farm in Taiwan. did not have much, but my father earned a scholarship to Stanford where he received his PhD.
I’m inspired by their hard work and dedication, and I think it’s helped me become the person I am today. Hard work and giving back are key to my success, and I get that from my parents. Your parents seemed a big part of crafting you as a person. What lessons did you learn from them that you've taken with you as an adult? They taught me so much! I learned from my dad to follow my passions and make my true interests my career, and that’s why I’m an attorney today.
My parents, like many Asian Americans, focus on real estate when investing. Real estate is a tangible item that can weather price fluctuations, and at the end of the day you always have property to show for it. That’s not the case for paper investments, such as stocks.

Helicopter Carrying 6 Crashes in Hawaii Lava FieldA helicopter carrying six people has crashed in a lava field in Hawaii. Cyrus Johnasen, a public information office for Hawaii County, says it was a tour helicopter with a pilot and five passengers. He says the initial report of a crash came in about 5 p.m. Wednesday near the southern most tip of the Big Island. Johnasen says the site was inaccessible by vehicle so the Hawaii Fire Department sent two helicopters to take victims to ambulances waiting at nearby roads. He says the pilot had been trapped but was later extracted. Johnasen says the pilot is a man in his 50s and was in serious but stable condition. An 18-year-old woman was reported in serious and worsening condition. Four people were reported as ambulatory. All have been safely evacuated from the site.
