Harry Kane will reportedly not 'push' to leave Tottenham this summer, but would consider a move, either now or when his contract runs out.
Kane has now made the process an easier one for Tottenham. Indeed, theThat’s unlike two summers ago, when he wanted to make a move, with Manchester City interested in him at the time. His current standpoint reportedly owes to ‘positive talks’ with new boss Ange Postecoglou.
But while Kane’s not going to be a nuisance for Spurs in order to make them sell him, there’s still a chance he does leave. Indeed, he is said to be ‘keeping an open mind’ on his future and ‘would consider’ leaving either now, or when his contract runs out next summer. It seems clear he’s not ready to commit his future to the club. Kane will reportedly not pen a new deal within the transfer window, and won’t do it at all ‘unless Spurs show significant progress’ this season.
It seems fair for him to delay that decision until he’s sure he’s playing for a side that’s going to play at his level. He’s been Tottenham’s best player for years, and that was no more true than last season, when he bagged 30 Premier League goals in an eighth-placed side. If Spurs are consigned to a similar finish in the league this season, they can surely wave goodbye to any chance they had of keeping Kane happy, and crucially, keeping him at the club.
