Former Councilwoman Judith Hill grew up near the Sixth and Harris Street intersection, which Harrisburg city officials announced will be named after her. This weekend Harrisburg will be honoring Judith Hill, the city’s first Black councilwoman who dedicated her life to community and civil rights causes.
Hill served on City Council from 1980 to 1982. She graduated from William Penn High School in 1946, then attended Virginia Union and Tuskegee universities. She was a teacher in the Harrisburg School District from 1965 to 1979.
