Shannon Herklotz, the assistant chief in charge of detentions, submitted his resignation this week, according to Jason Spencer, chief of staff for Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. He is one of several staffers within the sheriff's office who have left since the department underwent a structural overhaul in the wake ofSome of 'prison TikTok's' biggest stars converged in Houston's EaDo. Spencer declined to speculate about Herklotz's motivation for resigning, but said that the department's restructuring involved a change in title from chief of detentions to assistant chief for detentions command, and a corresponding reduction in pay. It also meant that Herklotz no longer answered directly to Sheriff Gonzalez, and instead reported to Chief Deputy Mike Lee.
