The victim had a gaping wound to his eyelid

A handyman launched a hammer attack on a drunk man who claimed he was owed money. Mark Williams was living at the Tudor House Hotel, Mansfield Road, Mapperley Park, when the victim turned up drunk, said he was owed cash for work and wanted to speak to the management.

He was struck three times and kicked on the ground, leaing him unconscious. A woman had shouted words to the effect of "that's enough...stop".A second witness saw the defendant with a hammer striking the victim three times at his head. A hammer mark was left on the man's shoulder and he had a gaping wound to his eyelid.

He must do 15 rehabilitation activity days and pay £1,000 to the victim. Williams, who volunteered at the hotel, was described as being sorry for what happened.
