Accies Under-19s host the Norwegian giants in a UEFA Youth League clash this evening
George Cairns believes Hamilton Accies Under-19s can get something from their UEFA Youth League clash against Molde tonight – but reckons they will ‘win’ from the experience, either way.
“That’s nearly two and a half years older than my kids, so straight away, you’re giving away an age advantage. Meanwhile, three of the players who helped Accies qualify for the tournament have since moved to English football – with Sheffield United’s Ryan One on the bench against Manchester United in the Premiership on Saturday.
“They’re a huge club in Norway and we’re competing against these guys over two legs, but when you break it down, it’s about the experience, it’s about what our guys can take from it. “We’ll have some 16-year-olds, a couple of 15-year-old kids on the bench, and Marcus Syme came on over there and he’s only 15 and he’s playing in an under-19 UEFA Youth League game.
“But an end achievement for these guys as well is watching Ryan One go to Sheffield United, it’s watching Josh McDonald representing their country, and Ryan and Gabe are the same.
