Half of Black women don't report domestic abuse because they have no confidence in police by LeahMahon_
Leading women's charity Sistah space said the findings were"severely disturbing"THERE HAVE been over 1,500 cases of police accusations of violence against women and girls in six-months, but the findings have been criticised for failing to consider how Black victims have been impacted, new figures have shown.
There were a total of 1,483 unique allegations reported against 0.7 of the police workforce which also considered the British Transport Police. Sistah Space, specialist charity supporting Black victims of abuse, said the report highlighting police behaviour was “severely disturbing,” adding that it was “extremely disappointing” about the outcome of the data.“Police perpetrated violence is a systemic issue. We have to ask ourselves why so many criminals in uniform have gone unnoticed or even worse, been excused from their heinous crimes.
Police-perpetuated violence against women and girls made up 16% of reported crimes between October 2021 and April 2022, and 70% of conduct allegations and 91% of complaint allegations resulted in no further action being taken.
