This stalled building site blighting a Lancashire town will remain untouched throughout the summer.
A housing development on the site of the former Burscough FC stadium ground to a halt when contractor Crossfield Living went bust and neighbours have become frustrated over the halted development. A road closure on Bobby Langton Place remains in place despite already causing frustration to the owners of the Barons Club which was trapped in the middle and now stands boarded up.
However, Crossfield’s collapse has hit the housing development and one councillor warned that the houses are “slowly decaying and becoming an eyesore”. The issue was raised at a full meeting of West Lancashire Borough Council this week as Cllr George Clandon raised concerns of neighbours. The road closure remains in place, having been set up by the council amid a row over how the site should be accessed. As the road is unadopted, it is not obliged to keep it open and previously said it was done to protect the site from unauthorised access, while allowing people to reach the front entrance of the building.
It stated: “It is unfortunate that the Burscough FC site has been so substantially disrupted through the problems experienced by the former contractor Crossfield Living and we fully appreciate the concern this will cause the local community. As the developer and landowner, Torus sought to support Crossfield and we hoped that the issues affecting the company would subside, allowing them to successfully complete the project.
