The number of vapers reaches 3.6 million in the UK, as the health consequences come under international scrutiny.

The data indicates most vapers are former smokers, with the main reason for using e-cigarettes being to give up tobacco. The anti-smoking charity Action on Smoking and Health has been monitoring trends in their use since 2012.It says the number of vapers in the UK has gone from 700,000 in 2012 to 3.6 million in 2019 - and of these:"It's important that all vapers stop smoking completely, as otherwise they are still exposing themselves to the serious risks of disease and disability caused by smoking," says Prof Ann McNeill, who compiled a review of e-cigarettes for Public Health England.
