The arrest was made by Paramilitary Crime Task Force officers
A 28-year-old man was arrested in east Belfast yesterday after multiple firearms and ammunition are discovered during a search. A shotgun, a handgun and ammunition were found in a search conducted by Paramilitary Crime Task Force officers.
Police Service Northern Ireland confirmed the arrest in a tweet sent out late yesterday night. The tweet said: "Officers from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force have arrested a 28-year-old man following a search in east Belfast this evening, Wednesday 1st February. #EndingTheHarm". The man was arrested in the Kilmakee Park area of east Belfast. Detective Chief Inspector Kelly said': "A number of items were seized for further examination, including a shotgun, a handgun and a quantity of ammunition."The man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm in suspicious circumstances and remains in police custody at this time.
