Non-fungible tokens are a lucrative revenue stream for the sports industry, as well as an entertaining method for fans to interact with their favorite teams, athletes, and historical events. People have long enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia, and NFTs are now providing a new digitized way to do so.

The professional services organization adds that four to five million sports enthusiasts worldwide will have acquired or received an NFT sports collectible by the end of 2022. And interest in sports NFTs is projected to be bolstered by activity in the broader NFT market, including that for digital art, which has seen its top five most valuable deals produce more than USD 100 million by August 2021.

One of the examples of NFTs being popular in sports is the announcement of OOOOO Entertainment Commerce Limited, a mobile commerce platform, that its subsidiary Fanz.com, a portal to NFTs, gaming, and football governance, has signed a collaboration agreement with KuCoin for digital asset distribution to their community of users.
