SAN FRANCISCO — Shane Bieber and Triston McKenzie will take the mound in Akron this week as both Guardians right-handers make rehab appearances for the Double-A Rubberducks at Canal Park, manager Terry Francona announced Monday. Bieber, recovering from inflammation in his right elbow, will start Tuesday’s game against the Altoona, an affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Francona said Bieber is slated for three innings, or about 50-55 pitches max.
McKenzie, sidelined since June 12 with a right elbow sprain, will start Wednesday’s game against the Curve. The righty will be a little more limited than Bieber in the number of pitches he throws, according to Francona.Recommended Guardians stories
