“I was certain that I stepped on the base,” Amed Rosario said via interpreter Agustin Rivero. “I was really certain of what happened.” Starting pitcher Shane Bieber said he didn’t have much doubt Rosario tagged the bag.
For his part, Rosario never wavered, insisting that he made contact with the base as the ball cleared the fence.
When asked whether he thought the Rays were employing any sort of gamesmanship by challenging the play, Rosario downplayed the moment.
