Members of the Catholic/Muslim Women’s Dialogue Group based at St. Damian Catholic Church and the Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview, said it's more important than ever 'come together to work for peace and create understanding.'

Participating in the Catholic/Muslim Women’s Dialogue Group and its service projects resonates deeply with Huma Murad, thanks to her family’s history. “My mother was in a shelter in Pakistan for abused women. I had seen her help with flood victims and providing food,” the Hickory Hills resident shared. Murad said the organization she’s belonged to since 2002 was approached by BEDS Plus to assist in its mission of providing meals and shelter to homeless people.

Sula said tea stations will be set up with large urns of the hot beverage, with women from the different countries providing information about each tea. To foster discussion, tables will be set up so every other person is Christian or Muslim, Sula said. “You have no choice but to talk to a Christian or Muslim lady next to you. That’s a great opener for us to get comfortable.” The tea will open with a welcoming speech followed by a prayer from each religion.
