Tom Grennan flying Coventry fan in Argentina out to Wembley final
The Sky Blues are competing at Wembley in the hope of being promoted to the Premier LeagueThe stakes couldn't be higher with the winner set to earn a place in the Premier League, however Grennan himself is unable to attend due to his commitments of performing at Radio One's Big Weekend in Dundee.
But while the 27-year-old can't be there himself, he told talkSPORT how he was keen to make the dream come true for the fan whom he has much in common with. He said: “I can’t go to the play-off final unfortunately because I’m doing a festival this weekend but I’ve been following this lad called Lauti from Argentina since I became a fan of“We’ve watched Coventry go from League Two and go up the table to League One, the Championship and hopefully now, the Premier League.
“I saw Lauti tweet about how he needs to sell his car to get to Wembley and I was like, ‘no, not happening, you can have my place and I’ll pay for you to come over’. “I’m not doing it for anything else but the love of football and if he’s there to see Coventry get promoted, what a moment. All of the Coventry fans, it’s a different experience when you go and see Coventry. There’s an energy there and a love there that I’ve never really experience before in football and that’s why I fell in love with the club.
