She was forced to go almost a whole 24 hours without heat and hot water
An elderly woman in supported housing was left without heating and hot water over night during the country’s cold snap.
But she told LancsLive that it took the housing provider nearly 20 hours to attend her home and fix the boiler as temperatures plummeted well below zero overnight.Margaret says she initially called Calico at around 5pm yesterday to report a leak under her kitchen unit and someone came to fix it quickly. It was after this she noticed the water from her taps had gone “stone cold".
Cindy said: “She rang me up at around 6pm and she said I can’t get through to them, so I waited and waited on the phone and eventually got through to them. I said, you were supposed to be coming and they said yeah, we’ll send someone out as an emergency.” Thankfully, someone did come to fix Margaret’s boiler, but at around 12pm the following day - nearly 20 hours after the issue was first reported to Calico. Last week, Cindy said was left without heating as her boiler had broke, but fortunately for her, someone came out the same day.
