Abbott along with Austin Mayor Kirk Watson, U.S Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Austin, Jewish faith leaders, and other dignitaries gathered to stand in solidarity with Israel Monday evening at the Dell Jewish Community Campus. The devastating attack on Israel has motivated Governor Greg Abbott to order Texas flags to be lowered at half-staff at sunrise on Tuesday. He says doing so will honor the thousands of lives that have been lost due to the deadly Israel- Palestine conflict.
The emotion inside Northwest Hill’s Synagogue could be felt. Attendees CBS Austin heard from were almost in tears and expressed a deep sadness for the families that were ripped apart because of the attack that erupted in the Holy Land over the weekend. During Monday’s solidarity gathering, Mayor Kirk Watson, Councilwoman Alison Alter, and others gave very powerful speeches about the events unfolding in Israel.
Austenite Noa Levy is a member of the Jewish community who describes the attack on Israel as horrific. She wanted to be at Monday's event to be present with those who are mourning and grieving.
