Governor Ron DeSantis answered questions in Jacksonville on Monday morning about the future of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office with Sheriff Mike Williams set to retire on Friday.
DeSantis said the most “prudent” thing to do would be to “elevate” Undersheriff Pat Ivey to serve as sheriff in the interim until a special election is held.
The governor also announced that he would endorse JSO Chief TK Waters, who is a candidate for sheriff in the 2023 city election.DeSantis was joined in Jacksonville Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis and Division of Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie at Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department Fire Station #50.
