Gotham Knights director Danny Cannon teases The CW's new Gotham City that will be featured in the potential DC TV pilot in the works.
As Gotham Knights gets closer to starting production, the pilot director gives new teases of The CW's fresh take on Gotham City. The Arrowverse has become an essential part of The CW since Arrow kicked off in 2012. Every year since the Green Arrow drama debuted, the network has developed one DC TV show after another, including The Flash, Superman & Lois, and many more.
2022 will be twice as good for the Gotham Knights as Warner Bros. is not only producing a video game but also a potential television series for The CW. While having no ties to the upcoming RPG, The CW's iteration of Gotham Knights will focus on Bruce Wayne's adoptive son. He bands together with the children of various Batman villains to become Gotham City's new protectors.
Since the Arrowverse began, every show - except for Black Lightning - has been based in Vancouver, including later additions like Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman. Gotham Knights may be the first CW-DC show not to film in Vancouver, but it's not the first Greg Berlanti-produced show to film in Toronto. While not part of the Arrowverse, HBO Max's Titans have shot all of their seasons in Toronto, which has included their own version of Gotham City.
It's a strong move for Gotham Knights' production to be located somewhere else since it won't have any ties to Batwoman or the Arrowverse. This show's Batman is dead when the series kicks off, so it was already not lining up with Earth-Prime's continuity. It will be refreshing to see a Gotham that doesn't share a city with other DC TV shows.
