Republicans' view of major U.S. institutions including banks, large corporations and tech companies turned increasingly negative within the past two years, a new Pew survey suggests.

, which was conducted last month, suggested that when compared to results from 2019, the percentage of Republicans and Republican-leaning Americans who said banks and other financial institutions, large corporations and tech companies have a positive effect on the way things are going in the country dropped by 13 points, 24 points and 20 points, respectively.

Though 63 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning individuals viewed the banking sector as having a positive impact on America in 2019, just 50 percent do today. At the same time, the number of Democrats who feel positively about the impact of the financial sector increased from 37 percent to 48 percent in that time — meaningLarge corporations saw a similar trend.

For tech companies, the views are now more divergent. Republicans' positive views of tech's influence dipped from 58 percent in 2019 to 38 percent in July while Democrats' positive views increased from 58 percent to 63 percent.
