Sen. Bill Cassidy said he disagreed with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ policy because of his conservative principles.
he opposed state orders that prohibit local officials and schools from imposing their own mask mandates based on his “conservative principle[s],” saying, “I think you govern best when you govern closest to the people being governed.”
“I do disagree with Gov. DeSantis,” Cassidy said, saying “local officials should have control” and he “doesn’t want top-down control from Washington, D.C., I don’t want top-down control from the governor’s office.”he changed his mind on the mask mandate ban because “facts change and leaders have to adjust to the new facts that you have and the reality of what you have to deal with.”
“It was an error to sign that law,” Hutchinson reiterated Sunday, after previously saying he regretted signing a mask mandate ban into law and unsuccessfully trying to have the law amended to allow school mask mandates.
