About half of the babies born in the U.S. in 2007 are predicted to live to 104, compared with the United Kingdom, where it’s 103, and Japan, where it’s 107, the report stated. General life expectancy has been increasing one year every five years since the middle of the last century.More life is a blessing, but for some, it might seem like a curse.
There are numerous other challenges affecting future retirements: lack of access to pensions ; a long-term, low-growth environment for investment returns; low levels of financial literacy; a high degree of individuals’ responsibilities to manage their own investments plan or knowing if and when to roll over accounts); and inadequate savings rates.
