Glock switches, which turn handguns into machine guns, are popping up throughout the greater Columbus area and already causing death and chaos.
Everybody has a gun. Everybody has access to a gun. Somebody knows somebody, anybody can get a gun. If they’ve got money, they can get a gun.But that shouldn't have been a surprise for the then-25-year-old Columbus man.
Thomas DeVelin sits with his defense attorney, Bob Krapenc, at the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas to enter his plea and receive a prison sentence to two counts of making terroristic threats and one count of the attempted illegal manufacturing or possession of explosives.Around March 2022, DeVelin feared federal agents and local police were closing in on him.
DeVelin in October pleaded guilty to one count of making firearms in violation of the National Firearms Act, one count of unlawfully engaging in the business of manufacturing and dealing machine guns and one count of manufacturing and dealing firearms without a license. On top of the firearms charges, DeVelin was charged in Franklin County Court of Common Pleas with threatening to commit mass violence at a Columbus Jewish school and area synagogues.
"The defendants are 3D printers by two or three at a time as we enter the house ..." McCormick said."So that's a big concern ... and again, that's something that's very hard for us to trace and track down." One friend Abdi was kicking the ball around with that day was 15-year-old Issa Jeylani, a rising star on the team. Jeylani helped get Abdi initially involved with the Tigers.
Issa Jeylani, 15, was shot and killed while playing soccer with his friends on the evening of July 22, 2022. Sharmarke Abdi, one of his best friends, has spoken out about what it was like to lose him and why it's a sign that Columbus leaders need to do more to prevent gun violence throughout the city.He finds it difficult to talk about Jeylani. When he tries to, Abdi said he sometimes gets choked up and feels it's nearly impossible to fight back tears.
