Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) is set to participate in a town hall on education, a policy area that helped him get elected in 2021.
The town hall, titled"Governor Glenn Youngkin and the Battle over Education," is scheduled for March 9 and will be hosted by Jake Tapper and televised on CNN."During the Town Hall, Governor Youngkin will take questions from a live studio audience, and we will hear directly from parents, teachers, students and stakeholders about education and the issues that matter the most to families in Virginia and across the nation," the network said in a statement.
Youngkin won his governorship in 2021. He campaigned on parental rights and made education a key part of his campaign pitch. He defeated former Virginia Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe by nearly 2 percentage points.Other Republicans have taken note of Youngkin's successful education pitch and implemented similar policies, such as Gov. Ron DeSantis's parental rights in education bill. Speculation has mounted on whether Youngkin will run for president in 2024.
