The landlord claimed the 'storage unit' had a 'positive impact' on a backcourt where rats had been seen, but a reporter said it breached planning rules.
A family-run takeaway in Bridgeton has been ordered to remove an extension — despite the landlord arguing it had helped clean up a “dangerous” backcourt where rats and used needles were found.
However, a reporter, appointed by Scottish Ministers, has dismissed the appeal as he found there had been a breach of planning rules. The landlord claimed the area was “previously used as a dumping ground by residents of the flats above and either side” of the takeaway, with rubbish “in some cases even blocking the fire exit”.
There has been “a remarkable transformation” in the backcourt since the extension was built, the landlord said, with other residents motivated to “take responsibility for the cleanliness and maintenance”.
