Smithycroft Secondary parents group walk over 2 miles from Robroyston to school as part of a campaign to get a designated school busA long and dangerous walk to school has prompted a group of determined parents to campaign for safer transport for their children.
One prospective Smithycroft student who took part in the walk, which left the supermarket around 6pm, said that she didn’t feel safe and was worried the long distance to and from school would leave her tired and impact her learning. They added: “However, it is ultimately a parent or carer’s decision if they want to accompany their child to and from secondary school.”
Ashley added: “What I noticed on the walk was that there four crossings, all of which were on and off junctions for the M8 motorway. The other crossings in this area were very slow in changing and very busy.” “If that’s where they want the kids to go, they need to provide a service that gets them there safely.”
