Firefighters from across the country paid tribute to Barry Martin
Glasgow fire crews joined their fellow servicemen from across the UK in a one minute silence to pay tribute to the firefighter who died after the Jenners blaze in Edinburgh.
The heroic firefighter was the first to die in the line of duty in Scotland since Ewan Williamson, who died after fighting a blaze at the Balmoral Bar in 2009.Scottish fire and rescue service City of Glasgow tweeted: "Firefighters across Glasgow paid tribute to Honour FF Martin today by carrying out a one minute silence on parade."
MSPs are now calling for the George Cross, a medal which recognises acts of extreme bravery carried out by civillians, to be awarded to firefighter Martin posthumously.The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service tweeted: "Today we joined together to observe a minute's silence to remember our friend and colleague, Firefighter Barry Martin.
