We chat with SheHulk star gingerthejester about the close bond between BFFs Nikki and Jen, the next step in the MCU, and the brilliant mind of EP Jessica Gao:
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, which premieres August 18 on Disney+, reminds audiences that every superhero needs a superheroic sidekick . Jen Walters’s best-friend Nikki Ramos is a true ride-or-die that can get along with anyone, and she is played brilliantly by Ginger Gonzaga in Marvel Studios’ hilarious action-packed comedy.
Ginger Gonzaga: I guess my quirk is being recklessly and stupidly brave. She's very free, and she doesn't seem to think that there are consequences. But it's always with the right intention. Like, "Let's do a little bit of the things that are illegal for the right goal." A means to an ends kind of girl.
I like her to be limitless, but I feel like she's limitless with whom she can hang out. I could see her hang out with me… I love Groot. Like she can hang out with Groot. She can hang out with the bad guys. She's very much like a border collie. She can herd people and get them all together. And because she can make people laugh, she can charm people in a way that they're disarmed, I think.
I want to talk about the bond between Nikki and Jen, because I absolutely love it. I feel that Nikki is there when Jen loses everything professionally. Ginger Gonzaga: Madisynn's so great. She's the best. Jessica knows comedy. She's a wonderful writer and every single actor on the show was obsessed with what she wrote. So we didn't want anything cut.
